About Us
About Us – Official Version
ShopDurvy is a specialized online store focused exclusively on sump pump replacement kits for homeowners. ShopDurvy operates under Durvy Inc. from our warehouse location in Union, Missouri, where we source, pack, and ship replacement kits using established supplier relationships and standard ground shipping. The business was created after helping a homeowner remotely replace a sump pump and realizing that most replacement issues come from incorrect discharge sizing, missing fittings, and uncertainty about which parts are actually needed. Our goal is to simplify sump pump replacement by providing kits configured to the customer’s setup and supporting customers with clear communication after purchase. If you have questions at any point, you can contact us directly by phone or email for assistance.
About Us – Short Version
ShopDurvy was created specifically for sump pump replacement kits.
We operate out of the same Union, Missouri location as our other Durvy businesses under Durvy Inc. — same warehouse, same shipping operation, same contact info.
My name is Josh, and ShopDurvy came from a real situation.
A friend needed help replacing a sump pump over five hours away. He was overwhelmed trying to piece together the right parts online and didn’t want to risk messing it up — so I built him a complete kit with everything needed and shipped it UPS Ground.
When his kit arrived, he called, I walked him through the install, and the whole problem was solved in about 15 minutes.
That experience stuck with me — because a sump pump isn’t optional equipment. It protects your basement, your foundation, and your home.
ShopDurvy provides sump pump replacement kits configured to your setup — with real support after your kit arrives.
About Us – Long Version
If you’ve made it this far, you’re probably here because your sump pump needs to be replaced.
And if you’re like most homeowners, you’ve got questions.
ShopDurvy started after I helped a friend replace a sump pump — over the phone.
(He lives in Chicago. I’m in Missouri.)
His sump pump went out and he wasn’t sure how to replace it. Like most people, he started doing what you’re “supposed” to do: research pumps, order parts online, and piece everything together.
But it got messy fast.
He was trying to order items from multiple websites, attempting to match discharge sizes, fittings, adapters — and he had just learned what a check valve was. The more he researched, the worse it got.
Then he went down the classic rabbit hole:
What pump “size” do I need?
He spent hours reading conflicting advice and trying not to waste money on the wrong pump.
He was overloaded and stuck… so he called me.
I had him take a couple photos and give me a few measurements. I started building a list of what he actually needed based on his setup — and honestly, that’s when the problem became clear:
This wasn’t a “pump” issue… it was a parts + fitment + confidence issue.
But the longer we talked, the more questions it created. Eventually he said:
“Josh, I’m just going to call a plumber. I don’t want to mess this up.”
I tried to slow him down, but he had made up his mind. I told him when he calls, to ask about availability before asking about price — because time was a factor. I also mentioned that most likely they’ll need an appointment to look at the setup, then come back later to install.
I felt bad I couldn’t help — and I couldn’t get away for a weekend to drive up there.
So Monday morning I’m back at the warehouse thinking: This is too easy of a fix for him to be stuck like this.
I started putting together an email with direct links to everything he’d need. The only thing he’d have to pick up locally was PVC pipe (it was crazy expensive online, I assume due to shipping).
My email was complete, ready to send… but then I thought:
-
What if they ship the wrong adapter size?
-
What if he doesn’t glue the PVC correctly?
-
How do I explain inspecting the check valve?
-
And how do I prevent it from being installed upside down?
At this point I had spent way too much time on it.
I surrendered. I tried my best. Let’s get back to work.
Then the next morning I get a text:
“1st phone quote is $2,600 and it will be 2 weeks before they can start.”
(And just to be clear — before I make any plumbers mad — I understand service calls involve much more than the repair: travel time, trucks, wages, insurance, scheduling, overhead, all of it.)
So I’ll skip my full brainstorming process and jump to the end.
I built the most simple, easy-to-use kit I could — with everything included — and shipped it to him UPS Ground.
His requirements were simple:
-
1 flathead screwdriver
-
and please attempt to clean your sump pit
When the package arrived, he called, and I walked him through everything. We were done in about 15 minutes.
The next 15 minutes of the call, I just waited while he filled up the pit with a garden hose to test it.
His first comment:
“Hey… it works!”
Me:
“Yes. It does.”
And that’s how it began.
So when you’re Googling this business and looking it up — yes, our address in Union, MO has a few businesses attached. They all have “Durvy” in the name, and it’s the same phone number and email. That’s because it’s all under the same umbrella here.
At this time we don’t have any social media. Maybe one day. (Update 1/27/26. We created a Facebook Page)
My name is Josh. Feel free to call anytime with questions.
